$15.1 million to strengthen WA’s biosecurity capabilities

The McGowan Labor Government is investing in the protection of the State’s primary industries, environment and access to export markets. This funding will be directly provided to DPIRD over four years, creating 22 new jobs within the Departments. The funding will focus on early warning and detection systems, biosecurity emergency preparedness and building response capacity of the state.

"This additional support will ensure we can detect and react to biosecurity threats faster and more effectively - ensuring Western Australia can maintain its world-leading status as a producer of quality primary produce for local consumption and our export markets."
